Sonja Jain

“You must be the change you wish to see in the world.” (Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi)

Hi, my name is Sonja. I started learning how to be a coach in 2009. I realized that I have to change myself before being in the position to help others. And I learned that trust is the basis between coachees and coach. Later I became a trainer and again I realized the importance of trust between trainees and trainer. The same goes for the two cultures of Germans and Indians. They seem so different to each other, but many things are easier when trust is being built. Let’s get to know each other and work trustfully with each other so that you can be more successful.

Experience as coach or trainer

  • My parents are Indian, I live in Germany. I am lucky enough to know both cultures by heart and soul with all the opportunities and challenges. I speak German and English fluently.
  • I have a German passport and an OCI Card (overseas Citizen of India) which allows me to work in India, have bank accounts, buy and sell commodities and apartments or own a company in India. So I know what to do to get things done in India.
  • I have worked with Germans and Indians. I have worked in and with international teams in person and virtually.
  • Clients sent me to German/Indian teams and told me to “make them do their job” as if there was a button. At the end, there wasn’t. It took some time, communication, understanding the misunderstandings, and then the team did work again.
  • I prepared Germans to work in India and Indians to work in Germany.
  • I moderated international teams so that they were able to bring up their best results not even though but because of their intercultural background.
  • I ask a lot of questions to understand.

Additional work experience

My career began as a sales person. I worked with precious stones and pearls in purchasing these in Asia and selling them in Germany and presenting them on fairs.

I worked in recruitment companies. My biggest clients were automotive and chemical companies and my core competencies were: understanding the IT Engineering problems of my clients to solve them by finding the right person to help them.

To focus more on the people, I started work learn Coaching and Training. And it helped me to become a better sales person.

What people say about me

“As a trainer, Sonja is very targeted, calm and easy to understand. Everyone learned quickly how to put what they have learned from theory into practice. Especially worth mentioning is the fact that the communication during the training always gave new food for thought. This is very target-oriented for every participant as well as for every company. We are grateful for Sonja’s excellent performance and would recommend her at any time”.
