“Don’t ignore imperfection as it could be one that defined the perfection but do no accept work done without heart and effort”

I am an Indonesian-born Chinese who lived in Singapore for almost two decades. Having spent my formative years in a developed country regarded as one of the ‘four Asian tigers’ (four countries in Asia with the highest economy), I constantly struggle with my own identity as I felt a sense of love but not belonging to both of my homes, and never feeling a sense of acceptance to both the fast-paced lifestyle of Singapore and the slow-paced and over-amiable nature of Indonesia, a still developing country. This sense of grief over my lack of belonging gave my interpretation of Third-Culture Kid (TCK) as “since I don’t feel like I belong in both my homes, I seek a third one”. In my effort to feel connected to the bigger part of the world, I created a Facebook Live Podcast, Global CKtizens to invite those who experienced multicultural lifestyle such as a TCK, Cross-Cultured Kid, Digital Nomads and Expatriates in order to share their experiences working and living in their host countries. By creating this community I had also gained insights not only in their industry niche but also how certain cultures had formed their personality and characteristics such as; how those who lived in the East and West Coast of the United States feels like being on two different parts of the world, or how a British and Latin could not coexist due to the lack of acceptance of sarcasm for the latter and last but definitely not the least is that while we have different lifestyles, we are all just the same as there is no definite or one way of doing things which would make me perfect as an intercultural coach. My goal is to be able to reach out to every 195 nations under the United Nation Charter, being a global advocate to multi-cultural representation that I feel will benefit the world which gets even smaller due to technology.
